Curriculum Framework
Using the backwards design model, this course will explain the curriculum design process and provide strategies for developing curriculum and instruction. Participants will develop and analyze key concepts, skills, essential questions, and enduring understandings using the PA Academic Standards and the Curriculum Frameworks. Participants will utilize the components of SAS as a foundation to construct aligned curriculum.
A minimum score of 75% (146/195) is required to pass this course.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the important processes and elements of curriculum design.
- Recognize the structure of Pennsylvania's Curriculum Framework and how it provides both a global perspective and a detailed perspective of what students must know, understand, and be able to do.
- Align lesson plans with Pennsylvania's Curriculum Framework and Academic Standards.
- Develop key concepts, skills, essential questions, and enduring understandings aligned to the PA Academic Standards to be used in curriculum development.
- Utilize the SAS portal to construct aligned instruction.
