RSS and Social Bookmarking

Woman at computer with data flowingWith the tidal wave of information that is generated by the Read/Write Web, figuring out how to manage all of it can be a daunting task. Where do we find relevant, accurate information, and what do we do with it once we find it? Fortunately, a number of tools are available to help with just that, and, in fact, they may just be among the most powerful of all the new Web 2.0 tools. Real Simple Syndication (RSS) allows you to "subscribe" to content that you find relevant, so instead of having to go and find it, it comes to you. And social bookmarking sites allow you to begin to organize all of the great information that you find and connect to other people out there who have the same interests as you do. (That's the social part.) That's a very simplistic explanation of what these tools can do, but rest assured that if you learn to use them well, they will give you a huge leg up on those struggling to make sense of the explosion of content on the Web.
