Agree on a Solution and Close the Meeting
The goal of Positive Student Confrontation is to reach a solution to a recurring pattern of unacceptable behavior. As you conduct a Positive Student Confrontation, you continue to re-confront the student, paraphrasing his or her words and making transitions statements, until one of the following results occurs:
- The student offers a solution.
If you find the solution that the student offers acceptable, you’re ready to close the meeting. If the student’s suggested solution isn’t acceptable to you, continue exploring other solutions.
- The student gives some indication that he or she might want to solve the problem.
If this happens, pursue the exploration of possible solutions until both of you are satisfied.
