Goals for Positive Student Confrontation
There are two criteria for success:
- Secure a change in the student’s pattern of behavior.
- Maintain and build a relationship.
Positive Student Confrontation is not used for a one-time occurrence of negative behavior; it’s used to confront a pattern of behavior. The student’s overall performance is not an issue at this meeting. The focus is on the present and the future. The student is treated with respect, even if the teacher is totally frustrated with the student’s behavior.
