Course Structure
The main sections of the course are listed in the navigation menu on the left of your course screen.
Each course consists of modules which are divided into several supporting topics.
Each topic is composed of multiple elements:
- Overview: Explains the rationale for the topic and makes a connection with your prior knowledge. The topic overview gives you an idea of what will be covered in this topic.
- Reading: Many topics include readings from either a book or web sites. These readings support the Learning Activities. Be sure to check the main page for each topic (labeled “Topic A, Topic B, etc. in the dropdown menus) to look for the readings.
- Resources: Some topics include resources such as web sites. These resources support your learning but are supplemental rather than necessary.
- Multimedia: Topics may include audio, video, or interactive practice in addition to readings.
- Key Information
- Identifies the content you need to use in order to successfully complete a Learning Activity.
- You may print it to read offline and keep for reference. Use File > Print on your browser to print the pages you want.
- Not every topic includes Key Information, but you should always look for it because it will help prepare you for the Learning Activities.
- Some Key Information may be divided into multiple sections on multiple pages.
- Learning Activity
- These activities are identified by letters and numbers. For example, 1-B-3 is in Module One, Topic B, third Learning Activity.
- Learning Activities consist of class discussions, individual assignments, group projects, self-checks, blogs, wikis, chats, and offline assignments.
