Aligning Assessments

The PA Academic Standards align to clearly defined assessment anchors that correlate to diagnostic and benchmark assessments. In this section we will examine these assessments, and those used in in the classroom to motivate students and foster learning.

After completing this topic you will be able to:

• Define what is meant by summative, formative, diagnostic and benchmark assessments.
• Explain how fair assessments foster learning, and hold teachers and students accountable for learning.
