Student Safety Through Education

For all the great possibilities of the use of technology, there are dangers to consider. Inappropriate content can be found online, even accidentally. Some concern for privacy is legitimate. Online environments have been used as platforms for bullying. Many schools have reacted to these dangers by simply blocking or restricting access. Is this the best way to prepare students though? We don’t expect students to learn to drive without ever practicing behind the wheel, so why should we expect them to learn responsible and safe online interaction without practice? In this topic, we will plan how to teach our students how to be responsible and keep themselves safe in the online environment.
