Tone

In a course on facilitating face-to-face, you wouldn't expect to spend a whole lot of time discussing "tone." In a face-to-face environment, tone is conveyed through body language, facial expressions, volume, and pitch. With those tools absent in much of online learning, facilitators must consciously choose the tone of their writing in each post, message, and comment. Crafting posts becomes an art, both in choosing the type of tone appropriate for a situation and in sharing your personality online.
