DI and Self-Directed Learners

SMALL GROUP ACTIVITY

This Learning Activity requires work in a small group. Because group tasks often take longer to complete than individual tasks, it is suggested that you begin working with your group early in the week.

1.)	Read two online articles about self-directed learners. Note: these links will open up a new browser window. “Self-Directed Learning” from ERIC Digest “Developing Self-Directed Learners” from Northwest Regional Educational Lab Read “DI and Self-Directed Learners” in Key Information. Notice the question in italics that follows each characteristic.
2.)	Click Small Groups in the left navigation bar to access your assigned small group. Enter the Group Discussion Board and collaborate with your group members to complete the following tasks:
3.)	Choose five characteristics and discuss the italicized question that is associated with each one.
4.)	Finalize your responses to the questions and choose one group member to post your responses for all other groups to read in Class Discussions 7-A-1: DI and the Skills of Self-Directed Learners.
5.)	Read other groups’ postings and reply to at least one group.
