The Power of Choices
The assumption that responsible behavior is a choice provides the foundation of many educators’ classroom management processes (Glasser, 1998; Jones & Jones, 2004). One essential strategy in helping students behave self-responsibly is promoting their ability to make decisions. Any decision you can get them to make successfully adds to their sense of personal power. Providing students with choices and helping students recognize the choices they have invites them to exercise control and participate in self-management.
In this topic you will review the Personal Power strategies of "Providing Choices" and "Personalizing Choices."
