Course Description
Instructional Design for Online EducatorsTM Online focuses on the development of skills and knowledge related to the design of online instruction. The course begins with a description and background of the instructional design field and then defines the role of the instructional designer. Various instructional design models and types of online courses are analyzed. The course explores the design cycle, which includes conducting a needs analysis, determining goals and outcomes, and preparing course content. Elements of course building are examined including multimedia, storyboarding, interactions, authoring, and delivery methods. Finally, online course implementation and evaluation methods are evaluated. Over the length of the course, participants will develop an instructional design plan to create an online course that meets student requirements for successful online learning.
Course Calendar
The course, which consists of nine modules, is eight weeks long. Your instructor will set the due date schedule for the initial postings, assignments, and replies.
Because participants from many different time zones may be taking this course, items should be posted/submitted by midnight (U.S. Eastern Time) on the day they are due. Your facilitator will post specific due dates for this course in the Calendar.
