Integrating Lifelong Learning
In this course, we have examined the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Standards Aligned System (SAS) and how it is a comprehensive approach that aligns Interventions, Materials and Resources, Instruction, Curriculum Framework, Fair Assessments and Clear Standards to support student achievement. We have also explored how to use SAS to tailor instruction to develop critical thinking skills that students will need throughout their lives. In this module we are going to challenge you to take advantage of all that SAS has to offer and use your critical thinking skills to help your students become lifelong learners.
In this course, we will examine the elements of Pennsylvania's Standards Aligned System (SAS) to support student achievement. Participants will explore how to use SAS to tailor instruction to develop critical thinking skills that students will need throughout their lives. Participants will examine the elements of SAS to enhance instruction focusing on developing critical thinking skills to help your students become life-long learners.
A minimum score of 75% (124/165) is required to pass this course.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate the Standards Aligned System and propose how you could use it to bridge the gap between what many current graduating seniors know, and the qualities that higher educational institutions and employers look for in candidates.
- Develop strategies to enhance the critical thinking skills of all learners.
- Summarize what you have learned about the Standards Aligned System and develop a plan to ensure that students are prepared for their futures.
- Create a finalized lesson plan that is fully aligned to the Standards Aligned System.
