Overview
Intelligent behaviors, or habits of mind, "are the characteristics of what intelligent people do when they are confronted with problems, the resolution to which are not immediately apparent" (Costa & Kallick, 2000). Students need to know how to approach and deal with problems or situations that result in "I don't know." It is our job as teachers to give them the tools to work through the blank spots and move on until they do figure out the problem.
