Google Docs Account
[Message]
3 points
- If you don't already have an account with Google (e.g., iGoogle, Gmail, Google Docs, Picasa, Blogger), you will need to create one. To create an individual account on Google, visit the account creation page. If you already have a Google Account, skip to Step 5.
- You will need to enter a current email address and choose a password that is at least 8 characters long.
- Optional: If you want to, you can sign up for Gmail so that you have access to everything you will need all in one system with one username and one password.
- The Google Account will give you access to a variety of Google products, including iGoogle, Google Docs, Picasa, and many more.
- Log into your Google Account, examine your Google Accounts page and click on Google Docs. Explore Google Docs and look through the Docs Help Page to examine the resources and solutions that are available should you need help.
- Send your username/email address to your facilitator and small group members via Messages.
Learning Activity 6-C-2
IMP Timeline
[Wiki]
35 points (Assignment & Comment rubric)
- Open the Google Docs timeline template.
- Select Edit this Page in the lower left corner of the document.
- Make a copy of the template (File > Make a Copy...). If you make changes in the template rather than your own copy, your changes will be visible to everyone else taking the course, and they will be retained in the document history even if you revert them.
- In the Copy Document window, rename your timeline with your first name and last initial (e.g., GinnyS Timeline) and click OK.
- Create your draft timeline using the template. Remove steps that aren't applicable to your project; add steps as necessary.
- Create a new subpage on the wiki for your timeline. Title this page with your first name and last initial and Timeline (e.g., GinnyS Timeline). Link to this page from the page for Activity 6-C-2. (Watch the video Creating a New Page in Wikispaces for directions on creating your new page.)
- On your new wiki page, embed your timeline following the directions in Key Information. Hint: These directions need to be followed exactly or the embed code won't work.
- Review the drafts of two other participants' timelines and comment on the discussion tab for both pages in PQP format.
- Finalize your timeline taking into account the suggestions of others.
