A number of tools are available to collect RSS feeds. In this course, we recommend The Old Reader. The Old Reader offers some features such as liking specific posts and charting your own reading trends which aren’t offered by Bloglines and other RSS readers.
Note: The Old Reader does not require that any software be installed on your computer. Once you set up your account, you will be able to access your feeds from any internet-connected computer or phone.

- You may sign in to use The Old Reader through your Facebook account, a Google account, or register as a new user by providing your name, your email, and a password.
- If you already have a Facebook account or Google account, enter your email address and password and skip to step 3.
- If you wish to register as a new user, click “Register” and provide your email, name, and a password.
- Follow the directions to complete the form to create your account.
- The Old Reader will send a message to your email account for confirmation. You will need to click the link in the email to verify the account. Upon clicking the link, you will be taken to The Old Reader site.
- You will see a welcome message and news from The Old Reader.
- You can take a tour of The Old Reader at http://theoldreader.com/pages/tour. You are encouraged to view the tour. Of course, you can always just jump right in and start experimenting on your own!
