RubricThroughout this course, you have developed reading strategies to include reading across your curriculum. For your Final Project, you will complete a lesson plan using pieces already submitted from earlier modules. Incorporate feedback and new ideas into your lesson plan so that it reflects and synthesizes information from the course.
In a word processing document, include the following:
- introduction that includes grade level, content area, and topic of lesson or unit
- before reading strategies which include calling up background information, building background information, teaching vocabulary, setting a purpose to read
- Include who the reading strategies are aimed at (ELL/ESL, minimal reading ability or other special population), the Multiple Intelligences that they support, and the Intelligent Behaviors that you are asking the students to exhibit.
- during reading strategies which include how students will organize information
- after reading strategies which include how to check if the purpose has been fulfilled, consolidate new information, connect new information to background information, extend new information, and/or respond to the text
- assessment which include guidelines for the project and a rubric to score the project
- assessment which scores the student's process
- list of alternative resources for the lesson/unit that you might include in your classroom library
- Conclusion
- Explain how you will motivate students to read for the content area you are teaching and how you will include time for reading for pleasure (sustained silent reading).
- Properly cite all sources used in the final project in a works cited page.
