What is a Graphic Organizer?
Since graphic organizers support all learning styles, they can be used for all students regardless of how they learn. Additionally, graphic organizers can be used with both narrative and expository text structures as tools for comprehending text and displaying knowledge.
When using a graphic organizer with narrative text, information you and your students may want to focus on includes:
- personality traits of one character in the book
- sequence of events in the story
- comparing one character with another
With expository text, the information is usually put into a graphic organizer that is compatible with the text structure. For more information on both expository and narrative text, please read Module 4 Topic A & Topic B.
