For this activity you will need to set up a meeting time for your small group chat. Use the World Clock Meeting Planner to decide on a time and day that will work best for the entire group. When a time and date have been set, one person from the group will send that information to the instructor using the message tool.
Read pages 139-149 in the text, “Supporting a Strategic Stance in the Classroom.”Based on your reading and personal experiences discuss the following in your chat:
- Discuss who should control the formation of strategic teaching in the classroom. Do you believe that a student should do this alone or should the teacher provide programmed help or monitoring?
- Describe in detail why you feel this way and support your beliefs by quoting the text or other references.
- If the other participants have somewhat different perspectives than you, discuss what you find interesting about their points of view.
