Hub with 1 NodeChanges in Journalism

In the past, news flowed from a few centralized sources to the general public. What information reached the populace was determined by a small number of newspapers, radios, and TV stations. The Web 2.0 has exponentially changed the number of available sources of news; the control is distributed across anyone with a cameraphone, blog, podcast, or YouTube video. This “citizen journalism” creates an environment where anyone with the tools can share information on events as they happen and can fact check other sources. During major events such as Hurricane Katrina and the 2004 tsunami, Wikipedia and other Read/Write Web sources were rapidly updated with new content. A new movement is now toward "placeblogging" which brings citizen journalism down to a local level.
