Overview

A formative assessment is continuous as students form new skills and learning strategies. This type of assessment can be fairly informal; i.e.,  observations, journals, discussions. Information gathered during formative assessments is useful to:

• you as you plan for continued learning.
• students as they strive to learn more.
• parents as they evaluate their child's progress over time.
• administrators as they evaluate student learning and teaching effectiveness.
