Podcast in the Classroom
[Blog or Podcast]
For this activity, you have two options. You will respond to a podcast created by someone else, but you can respond either in writing through a blog post or by recording your own podcast.
First, find a podcast that you can use with your students. You can select either a single episode or a podcast series.
Option 1: Blog Response
- In a blog post, describe how you would use the podcast in your classroom.
- Include a rationale of why you selected this particular podcast.
- Provide a link to the podcast you chose.
Option 2: Podcast Response
- Plan a podcast. This podcast can be short; 2-3 minutes is fine. You can write a script, but it will sound more natural if you just use an outline or notes.
- Describe how you would use the podcast in your classroom.
- Include a rationale of why you selected this particular podcast.
- Record your podcast using one of the options below.
- Audacity allows you to record your podcast on your computer; directions are provided in your book on pages 118-120.
- Podomatic allows you to record your podcast online.
- Garageband (free software on Apple computers) allows you to record your podcast on your computer.
- Record with an mp3 player or digital recorder.
- Post your podcast on your blog.
- Create a new post and introduce your podcast in text. Include a link to the podcast you selected for your classroom activity.
- Upload the mp3 file for your podcast.
- Publish your post.
- Test your podcast to verify that it is working. If you are having technical difficulties, you may wish to check Wordpress Support for assistance.
